Do kids ever enjoy doing stuff on their own?

Every kid Ive seen under 8 always needs their adults to do stuff with them. Like they can't just go jump in the trampoline. They need you to go there. They can't just watch TV. They need you to watch it with them. Is there a way to get kids to just do stuff on their own?
