Worried about pancreatic cancer
General background:
27 year old male, ~89kg, never smoked, cancer risk factors minimal, located in central Europe
No significant medical history, no operations or prior hospital stays
Crohn’s disease on mother’s side of the family in one uncle
No changes in diet
No recurring medications
Full spectrum blood tests taken 3 times from late April to late May reveal almost everything is within range, except levels of haemoglobin in blood are at lower bound. Sometimes blood sugar is very slightly high, but always within 5% of upper bound.
No jaundice, no radical loss of appetite, no fast/unexpected weight loss. Blood tests confirm that bilirubin result is in range.
From February to April, I had sporadic diarrhoea and non-constant stomach pain on the right side of my belly button (~5cm right). My stools also became thinner and lighter in color. Despite the concerning symptoms, I delayed seeing a doctor due to work and travel commitments.
From late May, my health worsened. I visited the ER several times due to blood in my stool and experienced increased anxiety, bloating, some weight loss, loss of appetite, and elevated heart rate after eating. The persistent stomach pain became more pronounced, and I was generally more tired than usual. I would characterize the pain as a persistent ache, that doesn't really change much in intensity, but is almost always there. It does not radiate to my back, but remains localised 5cm to the right of my belly button, sometimes radiating upwards, sometimes radiating downwards. It seems to be effected somewhat by eating, but there's no direct correlation between eating and the intensity of pain. Pain does not radiate to my back.
On May 30th, I underwent a colonoscopy and gastroscopy, with numerous biopsies taken from the stomach, duodenum, colon & start of the small bowel. There were no visible signs of cancer, and lab results confirmed no cancer, and also no IBD/Crohn's disease.
Despite lower anxiety levels after the colonoscopy and a slight return of appetite, my health problems continued into June. These included heart palpitations, increased fatigue, some blood in stool (unclear if it's from colonoscopy or otherwise), dizziness, and new symptoms like urethral pain when passing urine. Additionally, certain physical activities like running resulted in a significant increase in stomach pain. As of June 6th, despite various tests and medical consultations, my condition remains undiagnosed. In a month's time I'm due for an ultrasound, but I feel like things are deteriorating quite fast, and a month feels like a long time to wait.
In general, I'm worried about it being pancreatic cancer, or something else that's bad. I feel like my symptoms are very atypical of just a normal IBS issue.
