What if?

I am prepared for people to rip me apart, but please go easy on me. I am Canadian and a proud Canadian, but I also know our history quite well, so I do not write this in total ignorance.

The value of Canada's resources is unmeasurable. I couldn't even come close if I guessed but it would be in the trillions or more.

The US president wants our resources, with a promise of lowering taxes (which is simply because they now have access to our futures resources and will remove free health care, so really we aren't winning at all).

If he wants to do this, in all reality, he can. We think NATO will help us but NATO is the US. Other countries will be tied up in the Ukraine/Russia/North Korea/China proxy war started and funded by the US. We will be easy pickings.

We may fight back but we are 40 million. Our army is small, albeit well trained for the most part. We team up with the US and while people think this means we know their tactics, they know ours more. We are underfunded, outmanned and outgunned. Yes we have spirit and it will be brutal guerilla tactics but that's it, it can be easily crushed out eventually.

Surveillance by the US is integrated into our homes and lives. All of our cameras and devices are made in the US or China. They know our every move.

Our economy is tied to theirs and we get a lot of our money from them, they could hurt us economically and it wouldn't be hard.

Either way we would be in trouble.

Now for the most part, we are the same people, in several aspects. A Canadian and a US citizen from afar are virtually indistinguishable. Our societies, architecture and cultures all fit in the same bubble. Yes we are very diverse, but so is the US. (I will get to the First Nations and French issues).

So unless we decide to start building our military and becoming independent from anyone by producing everything in house, we will be absorbed, if desired by Trump.

So what if it is done on our terms? This is an example, wishful thinking, and open to debate, but:

A one time payment of 300,000 US for every single Canadian citizen born in Canada as of 2025 (to pay for our share of the countries resources, costs a little more than a war though).

Each province/territory becomes a state.

First nations in Canada and US get special designation and rights tbd.

The French language is recognized as it is now throughout the new country .

A forced election will occur (before amalgamation) with the new states voting for a president.

A representative of the Canadian territory will be elected as will an overseer of natural resources, and a council of First Nations.

Free basic healthcare for ALL citizens of the new country.

These are just some ideas, so my question is would Canadians be willing to compromise at all? Keep in mind I don't want to be part of the US but if they wanted it to happen, would you be willing to risk your lives and the lives of your families to avoid becoming part of something that will eventually happen anyways?
