How to have a Spider (Icecream + Fizzy Drink).
Me and hubby had a disagreement on how to have a spider (our eldest is just starting to have the odd carbonated treat so we are excited to have him try one).
I always put the icecream in first, then poured the drink over the top, so it frothed up (and to me the froth is the best bit). This is also how it was served at restaurants when I had it as a kid, they’d bring out the cup with ice cream already in it, then just a can of whatever drink. Creaming Soda being my fav.
Hubby says the froth is gross and this way is not nostalgic at all. He says you have to pour the drink first then add ice cream after. I feel like this would make a mess (splash?), be harder to judge and not overflow the cup when adding the ice cream, and not froth. What’s the point of a spider without the froth? I feel like this is what is done at places that don’t serve spiders, and you have to make do and just get your ice cream and scoop it into the drink. Like the better than nothing method. Hubby ofc disagrees. He also likes Fanta with his spider.
