Jesus genealogy

I'm going through Luke at the moment and the genealogy of Jesus confuses me. Jesus is said to be the son of Joseph all the way down to Abraham. However, Mary was said to be a Virgin before conceiving jesus. So how is it that Jesus can come from Abraham is Joseph isn't his genetic father?
