writing about a2c for the community supplement

The r/ApplyingToCollege community has allowed me to find solace through shared masochism. When I first made it on to this subreddit, I found myself encountering all sorts of terms I'd never heard of before: 'T20,' 'HYPSM,' 'shotgunning,' and more. As a prospective Linguistics major, these abbreviations and slang fascinated me. I wanted to learn more about how this place, a breeding ground for toxicity and uninvited 'put the fries in the bag' comments, could also foster a culture of linguistic innovation.

As I learned more about the community, I found myself strangely endeared by its charm. I spent hours doomscrolling Reddit, learning more about its history (or lore). What was St. Anford and UC Hicago? Who was Chloe? What happened to the kid who tried to kiss his Yale interviewer?

ok i physically cant write more 😭😭😭 i need to crank out the cornell community supplement and i genuinely cant write anymore i might lowkey just use this

EDIT: if i get 200 upvotes on this post i will be writing this and submitting it

EDIT: IT’S HAPPENING. will update in March with a r/collegeresults post (and on here ofc)
