Why did an get rid of the AR feature?

I used to have the AR feature until suddenly when night of the Phantoms came It's just gone. Permanently. I don't know how or why this happened

I thought maybe it would come back after the next update but it's still not back.

I used to use the AR feature for various things and now that it's gone the amount of content I am able make is halved

Am I able to get it back? Is It removed from all devices or just mine? Why would this happen?

I did try to ask before but the only answers I get are pretty much just "You couldn't have had AR" or something along the lines of that But I had it for years until it vanished
