AITA For Not Supporting My Wife's Deception?
My wife (28F) and I (34M) have been together for 8 years now, married for 6. We've always gotten along great, and up until now, I always thought our goals were aligned. One thing we've always agreed on is having a larger family. She has always talked about having kids and even going as far as buying baby books and thinking of names so we would be ready when the time comes.
I brought up two years ago that if we are going to have a family, we really need to start soon with her being 26 at the time. I make enough for us to live comfortably, so she offered to quit her job and stay home so she could focus on giving us the family we deserve.
Well, after a year or so, we still weren't having any luck. We went to a fertility doctor, but they said we were fine. And then, the miracle happened 3 months later! I came home from the job site around 8pm, exhausted, and before I made it in the door, she jumped into my arms and told me we did it!
The next 5 weeks were a blur. I begain baby proofing the house while my wife focused on her health. She went to the doctor multiple times for checkups and our pregnancy was going great. And then one day, everything fell apart.
I pulled into the driveway from working all day and there was a crumpled body laying next to the door. It was my wife. I immediately ran to her side to check on her. I didnt register it at the time, but the stairs landing and grass was covered with marbles. It was weird, but i picked her up and rushed her to the ER. She kept drifting in and out but she dis manage to tell me that she went outside to check the mail, slipped on something, and fell off the landing. She remembers me pulling up and thats it.
Things did not go well. She ended up having a miscarrage from the fall and i was ruined. We went home. I went to the front door and started to clean up all the marbles scattered everywhere. She called friends and relatives to break the news, and then we just sat on the couch for what seemed like days, but must have been only a few minutes. She said she was cold and asked me to get her some socks. I went to open her sock drawer, grabbed some, but noticed the door was sticking a little. I reached into the back and there was a giant bag of marbles and bbs in there.
I immediately rushed into the room and asked her what they were for. After multiple diversions she finally admitted she never wanted kids. She had ordered a big bag of marbles online, spread them all over the concrete and used them to help her fall off the stairs so she would have an abortion. She was planning on blaming the neighbor kids, but got knocked out, so she wasnt able to tell that part. Not only that, but she wanted it to happen that way so her family would finally feel some sympathy for her.
She is pleading with me to not tell her family or the doctor what really happened. But i dont think i can play along. Im just broken with this deception and dont want to be a part of it.
So, AITA if i dont go along with her lie?
