Today, I feel completely gaslighted and manipulated, and I don’t know if I’m overreacting or uncovering the truth.

I (19F) have been in a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend (25M) for almost 9 months now. He’s from my state but currently abroad pursuing MBBS. Initially, we only talked on Instagram, but after a brief fallout, I got his number from his friend. Here’s where the first oddity occurred: the friend initially sent me one number, then quickly deleted it, saying it was his brother’s number, and sent me another claiming it was his. I ended up saving both.

Fast forward to now, our relationship has been smooth until a few days ago. During a late night call, he told me his phone broke after a friend accidentally pushed him, causing it to fall. The next day, he called me from a new number, explaining that his old Indian SIM couldn’t receive OTPs abroad, so he got a new one. I accepted this explanation because messages sent to his old number would remain undelivered, and the WhatsApp profile stayed unchanged, which reassured me.

However, today, everything fell apart. While on a call, I accidentally opened Telegram and saw his old number online a few minutes prior. When I confronted him, he denied using it and claimed that maybe his iPad (which is with a friend) had Telegram logged in. I didn’t buy this, but he insisted and even offered to download Telegram to check.

While this was happening, I noticed another shocking detail: the other number his friend first gave me (which she later claimed was his brother’s) also appeared online on Telegram. This made no sense to me because he has always denied having multiple numbers. When I confronted him about this, he denied it again.

A few minutes later, I received a notification that he had joined Telegram with his new number. He continued insisting he didn’t know what I was talking about, but at this point, I felt completely gaslighted.

I finally told him to delete my number and not contact me again. He kept calling me afterward, but I didn’t pick up.

Now I’m left questioning everything. He’s always been so nice that I used to think maybe I’m not good enough for him. But after today, I feel deceived and manipulated.
