Developing and Pitching a Course

I'm an attorney based in Los Angeles who is interested in adjunct teaching. For a while now, I've had an idea for a course that would teach concepts through a semester long simulation. I've started to put together a syllabus with the goal of pitching the course to local law schools. I recently discovered that there is an adjunct professor at my alma mater (which is back on the East Coast) who teaches a course that sounds very similar to my idea. My questions were:

  1. Do you all have any advice on how to go about pitching a new course? How much material should I have prepared? A syllabus? Class outlines?

  2. Would it be weird to reach out to the professor and ask to see his syllabus? Mostly, I'm just curious but, obviously, it would also be very helpful in preparing my own material.
