Getting promoted to Management accountant trainee… what will I be doing?

Hi I hope this is not a dumb question.

Basically I have been studying my accountancy qualifications for a few years which my employer is now taking an interest in. The gentleman who was doing the job before has now quit due to illness. On Wednesday my boss approached me about whether I would be interested in being a trainee and coming away from accounts payable. I of course accepted this as it is a great opportunity for me. I am getting a pay rise and from now on my employer will pay for all of my training costs. They have assured me that they will be going through all of it with me and won’t leave me out to dry but I am still conscious of not looking like an idiot.

So what are the day to day / monthly tasks a management accountant is expected to do?

Appreciate any feedback and again I hope this isn’t a dumb question.
