Does Anyone Else Get Extreme Anxiety Potentially Switching Jobs?
Switched from my current role four years ago after two years at a Big 4. At that time, the pay and learning opportunities were good. Now, four years later, I've only gotten like 3% raises every year and have learned the role pretty well, but since I'm in a small internal audit department, there aren't opportunities for promotion being offered to me (we only have a Senior and Senior Manager role so the jump to SM would be big). I've also obtained a CPA since joining. That being said, the team is good and the WLB is great (e.g. I can go to the gym during lunch most days). The company also has told me they will send me to work in one of their offices abroad for 6-12 months later this year, which is an opportunity I value because idk when else I would live abroad.
I've been interviewing recently and should be getting an offer at a bigger company that's a 29% pay increase. My title would be the same, but the department is bigger so there are more opportunities for growth. I don't love the opportunity, but feel like the pay bump justifies taking it. That being said, I'm feeling really anxious about taking the leap since this job is all I've done for 4 years and have become used to coasting since I know the role well and would have trouble doing that in a more rigid structure. Plus, I know I shouldn't feel guilty about leaving a company, but my manager did train me well and this would be leaving him resource depleted.
The new company is pressuring me to make a decision within a week (I just finished interviewing and got the offer yesterday) because they have other candidates for the role. I've just been stressing out about this and feeling very anxious. Anyone have any advice, either about the situation itself or how to deal with this kind of anxiety?
