Why cant they just give me the day off

They originally had me off tomorrow for my 1st week of training. It was all blanks. I checked at 9:00 PM and they have me in at the clinic for 2:30 PM to 4:30 Pm. really a waste of time to drive 25 minutes. What can I do?
