Anybody who survived the attacks, and are on Reddit, do you have the fear of respiratory illnesses? When you saw the dust, did you cover your face? Also, how have you handled your mental health and trauma from that day on?
My dad was witness to the attacks, and once had to return to his office at The World Financial Center to retrieve his personal items only a few weeks after. Even more than 23 years later, he and my family are constantly nervous he might be affected by the toxic dust from the collapse. He does routine checkups, including cancer screenings, but he's had congestion for years at this point and while it hasn't become anything too serious, there will always be this looming shadow over his health. We talk about the attacks themselves on Reddit, but now that more people have passed from the aftermath than the actual attacks, how are you doing? My dad also had to have therapy to deal with some of the terrible things he saw, and at the same time, the loss of his job (his company was in the process of layoffs and shitilly decided that 9/11 could expedite the firings.) Do you have the resources you need or found a comfortable outlook in the present and future?
