Hormonal Acne

Well I came here to ask about this hormonal acne that pops up before every period, but I guess I’m also seeking advice for my blackheads?!

For my acne: I was prescribed spironolactone 50 mg by my dermatologist, which I started taking mid-May. In mid-November I started taking half a dose because I thought it was causing numbness in my arms and hands. (I took it at night and would wake up multiple times in the night because of the numbness.) also to note, I forget to take it some nights, but I’d say I take it at least 90-95% of the time.

I will say, I did not take it over the week of Christmas because I was traveling and a huge under the skin one popped up and I was annoyed and traveling so said screw it. But that one has mushroomed into 5. I am using Mario Badescu Drying Lotion which seems to help reduce the length of their stay/how big they get but I just started using that this month. The last big one I had was in October, so maybe me stopping my meds really did make it worse this time but I’m so frustrated.

Has anyone had any luck with any other approaches for hormonal acne or acne in this area of their face? This has been going on for most of my 20s-30s and I just want it to stop.

Thank you in advance!
