I pray Soulreaper Axe changes are major
Been playing around with this piece of trash. The most fun I've had with it thus far is one-shotting ankous.
There've been a couple of threads about it already, but I still wanna compile a list of my issues - some of which I've not heard much talk about.
- stack mechanic
Right now, exceeding the time between attacks by a minor amount leads to you losing stacks. This in turn means you lose 8 hp on your next attack. This prohibits you from combo eating at Vardorvis (a boss where combo eating is VERY valuable). Even just commiting a mistake against Vardorvis, and thus losing damage uptime is punished in the same way. This feels really bad for a supposed BiS-weapon.
The axe feels so shit against Vardorvis that using a tentacle + avernic is a breeze in comparison. Yes, the dps will be lower but you're at least not at a much higher risk of commiting suicide. (Note: The dps difference ain't even that major. In all BiS-gear (minus Torva and infernal) the axe does about 15-16% more dps. Difference is the same no matter Vard's hp).
Solution: stacks last (much) longer, hp drain is reduced to 6 per stack (40 less hp at a fight with constant chip damage is massive. Even 30 is quite a lot, but I'll take it)
Now you might ask why I haven't mentioned Duke Sucellus. The axe is supposed to be good there too, right? Well, no. The dps difference is just as small + the axe is just as dependent on Bandos specs as zombie axe+avernic. I.e. the problem with Duke is mainly his absurd defenses. Also worth noting that using the axe at Duke basically requires you to take a Blood fury (costing quite a chunk of gp) - something you can skip when using the very viable zombie axe.
- special attack "Behead"
I hate this special with a burning passion. It is "supposed to be" a finishing move that you use to kill your enemy and restore your health. The problem is that it often either misses or hits for trash numbers. You might say: "oh but that's just bad rng. It's the nature of the game). Yeah, sure. I think, however, that this shouldn't happen in the first place. Missing a spec and then having your next normal attack finish the boss means you sacrifice 8 health that you can't get back. Not that big, I know, but considering the context of the special I still think it's utter horseshit.
I have a solution that I think is quite interesting:
If your opponents health is within \insert percentage* of your max hit Behead is 100% accurate and guarantees a kill.*
Whatever a fitting percentage is is up for debate. At absolute BiS gear a percentage of 100 would mean a guaranteed 73 damage - as an example.
- DPS
The dps of the axe isn't a problem of its own, in my opinion. It's just that currently the dps increase over "less-BiS" weapons is bad due to the many trade-offs the Soulreaper Axe comes with.
So if these trade-offs are (majorly) reduced the dps can stay about the same. Otherwise I definitely wouldn't mind an accuracy increase. Hitting 0 five times over against Vardorvis is hogwash.

That's it. Thanks for reading and have a good day!
